10 Things We Want in Apple’s iOS 8

With all the excitement around self-driving cars, tech billionaire basketball purchases, and next-gen spaceships, you might have overlooked the fact that Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) is already upon us.

Come Monday, Apple developers and members of the press will fill San Francisco’s Moscone Center for a sneak peek at what Apple has up its sleeve on the software front. Last year, we got a completely revamped iOS 7, which adopted a “flat” design that seemed to move with you as you shifted the phone. Since Cupertino revamped iOS 7 so dramatically just 12 months ago, we don’t expect iOS 8 to be a major departure from a design point of view. But you need something to keep developers and iOS users happy, so expect a few nifty updates.

What Apple will actually unveil is anyone’s guess, but here at PCMag, we know what we want Apple to show off. We polled our staff for their iOS 8 wish list, so check out their responses in the slideshow.

What you probably won’t see is a new iPhone or iPad. In recent years, Apple has shown off its new software at WWDC, and made it available in the fall alongside the release of its new smartphones and tablets.

The WWDC keynote, meanwhile, kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Monday, June 2. If you have an Apple device, you can live-stream the whole thing. But PCMag will also be live-blogging all the details, so tune in then. For more, check out WWDC: What to Expect.
